The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect that apartment house office workers's recognition of public interest on the degree of job satisfaction. Structured questionnaires were administered to 150 apartment house office workers. Analyzed based on the collected questionnaires were workers' demographical characteristics and current situation of apartment complex under their supervision, and also the positive or negative effect of workers's recognition of public interest on the degree of job satisfaction. A plan of raising job satisfaction was presented.
Investigation showed that the higher the degree of public interest, the higher the degree of job satisfaction. People over their 50s showed the highest, while 30s, the lowest. It suggests that older people who have abundant social experience highly recognize the apartment house supervision as a quasi public service, while younger people, lowly recognize. It means that a plan to raise public interest should be groped for. Analysis of difference of recognition on job satisfaction showed that female showed higher degree than male, and high school graduates showed highest degree, while over college graduates, the lowest. As for position, engineer showed the highest and as for terms of work, between 1 and 3 years, the highest. Most subjects were female, and accountants or engineers who are relatively less responsible showed high recognition, while managers who are heavily responsible showed low recognition. On the other hand, pleasure of duty itself did not have a significant effect on job satisfaction. The factor of payment was the highest in terms of the degree of effect on job satisfaction, suggesting that working in poor surroundings with relatively low payment can be a cause of short term service.
As the result of research showed, recognition of public interest has a positive effect on the degree of job satisfaction. It is necessary to encourage and satisfy workers' motivation of recognition of public interest. Most of all, tenants' excessive intervention should be sublate and workers should encouraged to work upon what they believe through securing their authority of execution. An active support is necessary so that they can work in active and positive attitude. When tenants should also make efforts to reform the spirit of community and improve the administrative system through establishing mutual cooperative relations, the degree of satisfaction of tenants and workers will be raised and an efficient administration will be carried out to raise residents' quality of life.
