The purpose of this study is to find out what the relation is between the organization culture of food service companies and new product development(NPD) and to verify the mediating effect of innovative behavior on both.
I will define organization culture and how it relates to innovative behavior. Organization culture consists of four components: relational culture, developmental culture, task orientation culture and hierarchical culture, and the main hypothesis of this study is that innovative behavior will mediate between organization culture and NPD.
To analyse this, I used many types of method of analysis such a frequency, factor, reliability, correlation, and multiple regression analysis. The three components of organization culture all(except relational culture) had a meaningful effect on NPD, and innovative behavior also effected NPD. The three components of organization culture which can effect NPD can also influence innovative behavior(relational culture, too).
The core of this study is to verify the mediating effect of innovative behavior in two variables; organization culture and NPD, and the method is made up of 3 steps. 1. The first is verifying the relation between an independent and mediating variable. 2. The second is to verify the relation between an independent and dependant variable. 3. The third is to verify the relation between an independent, mediating and dependant variable so that when you calculate the value after you have done multiple regression analysis, the total value of step 2 should be higher than step 3. If it is, then it can be concluded that there is a mediating effect on the mediating variable and between an independent and dependant variable.
In this study, I found out that three components of organization culture effect NPD, and those components, together with innovative behavior, also effect NPD. Moreover, the regression value of the former was higher than the latter and this mean that innovative behavior has a mediating effect on two variables.
The final result of this study is that developmental culture, task orientation culture and hierarchical culture can contribute to NPD of food service companies with innovative behavior. Therefore, if you want to promote the efficiency of NPD, you should boost the innovative behavior of your employees.
