This study was conducted to investigate sows performances from Sept. 2013 to Aug. 2014. Data from sows performances were collected from a total of 10 farms, and then, farms were classified into small farm and large farm sizes including four seasons, respectively.
Items surveyed in different farms were total litter size, weaned piglets, parturition rate, annual parturition per sow, MSY, etc.
The results from this study were abstracted as follows;
1. Average of sow per farm was 295.51 heads. The significant difference was not found in four seasons (p〉0.05) for average of sows.
2. Parturition rate of sow was 83.11%. There was no significant difference between small and large scale farms for sow raising. The significant difference was shown with the lowest level in winter season (p〈0.001) among four seasons.
3. Total litter size averaged 12.48 pigs. The significant difference was found between two sow farm size (p〈0.05). Also, this was highly found among four seasons in litter size per sow parturition (p〈0.001).
4. The annual times of parturition per sows were 2.37. The parturition times per year for small size of sow farm showed significantly superior to that for large size of sow farm (p〈0.001). However, there was no significant difference among four seasons.
5. The average of MSY were 19.22 heads. There was no significant difference between two sows farm groups for MSY. The significant difference was not found among four seasons for MSY.
