Despite the dramatic increase in regional festivals in Korea, the qualitative growth in festivals and overall tourism industry has been limited. Therefore the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Toursim selected several top-rated festivals as 'Cultural Tourism Festivals' by its own standards and focus its financial and communicational investment onto 'Cultural Tourism Festivals'to increase the overall festival quality.
This study scrutinize the new festival standards formed in 2014 by observing its validity and reliability on four local festivals around Busan and Kyungnam regions. Also, the study observed the relative effect of visitors' service quality satisfaction on the festival performance by festival types. In Art Festival, the satisfaction on the festival program quality has significant effect on festival performance and in Traditional Cultural Festival, service environment quality has significant effect on the festival performance. In Local Specialty Festival, service delivery quality has meaningful ramification on the festival performance.
