This study was conducted to evaluate the variation characteristics of influent and effluent quality from small scale sewage treatment plants with the 14 working facilities(4 treatment methods) for Jinan area's and to present improvement methods and expected problems. Monthly data of five water quality items(BOD, COD, SS, T-N, T-P) were used mainly to understand the water quality at fourteen small scale sewage treatment facilities for three years from 2012 to 2014.
Conclusions of this study are as follows.
Influent flow-rate was flowed in about average 30~85% of design capacity. In contrast, variation of influent loading rate were very high all 5 items and changes of T-N and T-P loading rate were higher than BOD, COD, SS loading rate.
Remove each item efficiency was the highest removal efficiency of BOD, SS, then the COD, T-N, shown in the order of T-P.
Per treatment method for the removal efficiency of BOD, COD, SS appeared to be the most favorable case of a wealthy village adopted the SBR BCS method.
Water inflow was lower than most investigating water flowing design. If the water inlet is designed BOD 200mg/L or less, but most of l00mg/L, total nitrogen average 25mg/L, total phosphorus showed a mean 3mg/L.
Analysis of the material showed no water is in excess of the discharged water quality standard in most facilities.
Forward minimize unclear sewage intercepting volume and pollutant load due to the insolvency of sewage intercepting pipe for efficient sewage treatment, and treatment is required if going to identify such structural problems of the facility for improving handling efficiency, improve facilities and process efficiency we believe could expect.
