This thesis analyzes both the aspect and the background of the youth culture in the 1970s through Choi In-Ho's novels published serially in the newspapers in the 1970s. In the 1970s, the era of rapidly growing industries and cities, the culture that shows the identity of youth of the new generation had been created under suppressed control of political power. The youth culture was degraded as a subculture because the culture was stigmatized as a decadent culture. The youth culture was oppressed by the country which aims for a new understanding of history and tradition.
This thesis is focused on what Choi In-Ho thought about youth and youth culture especially through 『The Homeland of Stars』, 『The Windmill of My Mind』, 『The March of Fools』 among his serial novels published in the newspapers in the 1970s. This study is aimed at realizing emotional structure of youth in the 1970s by investigating external factors, wanderings, amusements of the youth.
