The language of each country is the language that is regularly spoken by the people. Jeju language was considered "A language of serious extinction" at UNESCO. This is not just a problem in Jeju. Each province is having the problem of the local language disappearing and of maintaining the traditional culture of the area.
Due to the local language disappearing, the local people are losing their culture and local identity. They are losing the many import parts of their culture and traditions that are connected to the local language.
The Jeju Special Self-Governing Province enacted the Jeju Special self-Governing Jeju Conservation and Cultivation Ordinance and the Jeju Special Self-governing Board of Education Jeju Activation Ordinance in order to preserve the language of Jeju. Even with this action, the Jeju local language is still in a crisis of extinction.
