This study investigated the emergence characteristics of waterbirds appearing by a period of ten day and survey point at Banseog natural type stream of Kumgang river system in Daejeon metropolitan city.
The observations of the waterbirds at Banseokcheon natural type stream were conducted 65 times from January 1, 2018 to August 27, 2018 in the survey area of Banseog natural type stream.
The observed waterbirds are five species including Spot-billed Duck(Anas poecilorhyncha), Teal(Anas crecca), Little Egret(Egretta garzetta), Great Egret(Egretta alba), and Grey Heron(Ardea cinerea), and 366 individuals.
The Relative species density(RD) of waterbirds at Banseog natural type stream was 89.9% for Spot-billed Ducks, 4.1% for Teals, 4.1% for Little Egrets, 1.4% for Grey Herons and 0.5% for Great Egrets.
Species diversity(H') of waterbirds at Banseog natural type stream was 0.3801 in January 2018, 0.5943 in February 2018 and 0.3501 in August 2018.
When a natural type stream is constructed, a habitat of waterbirds such as Spot-billed Ducks, Teals, and Little Egrets is needed at the groundwater leaching area where the stream water does not freeze during the winter season.
