As platforms for watching movies and dramas have diversified recently, access to Chinese dramas and movies is improving. In particular, subtitle translation is deemed more important than ever as more people learn the language and culture of China through Chinese movies and dramas aired on platforms such as Netflix. Chinese movies contain Chinese culturemes, so if the translator does not translate them with an appropriate strategy, mistranslation is likely to occur, resulting in confusing the viewers. And cultureme translation is one of the most difficult things for learners studying media translation when they translate. For this reason, we decided to study four movies -- 〈Love is Not Blind〉, 〈My Love〉, 〈Upcoming Summer〉, 〈Us and Them〉, which are being aired on Netflix and Wavve. Among the expressions in the four works, we listed up the idioms, metaphors, proverbs, newly-coined words, buzzwords, and old sayings that contain culturemes. And then we shortlisted them for idioms, metaphors, and proverbs that appear often in the works. And then we broadly characterized subtitle translation by "use of complex information," "readability," and "efficiency," and presented translation strategies by analyzing sentences in which the translation strategy of chunking up, chunking down, and chunking sideway was applied. We hope that the strategies presented in this study can be a useful tool for learners who have trouble with media translation.
