This Study analyzed translation Strategies and semantic changes of hybrid words in Korean-Chinese translation, targeting cases of hybrid words translations extracted from articles in the Chinese version of 〈The Hankyoreh〉 for the past year. Recently, the proportion of hybrid words in Korean has been increasing. As the number of hybrid words increases, the semantic domain of Korean is also changing. In addition, Korean and Chinese show very large differences in the conditions for hybridization due to their character traits.
In Chapter 1, Introduction, the necessity and purpose of research, subjects and methods of research were clarified, and previous studies related to hybrid words, neologisms, and translation theory were reviewed. In Chapter 2, before starting the research, several theories were put together to redefine and classify hybrid words. In Chapter 3, researcher extracts and organizes 483 hybrid languages and translations from the original Korean texts of articles published in the Chinese version of The 『Hankyoreh』 in accordance with the definitions and classifications given above, how these hybrid words are translated, and what translations are made at the syntactic level. We looked at strategies to see if they were implemented. In Chapter 4, the study was conducted on the semantic change in which hybrid words occur at the semantic level. In Chapter 5, the conclusion summarizes the conclusions of the previous research and suggests the direction of future hybrid language translation research.
Through the above-mentioned study, in the aspect of Korean-Chinese translation of hybrid words, the case of 'equivalent strategy in the same form' with the most literal translation and the case of 'maintaining meaning' with little change in meaning were found the most. Finally, with this study as an opportunity, it is expected that hybrid language translation research will be more actively conducted and lead to more diverse fields in the future.
