Post-Sung-Confucian Political Thoughts Considered In East Asian Perspectives-Huang Zong-Xi, Ogiu Sorahi and Cheung Yak-Yong攀* Process of philosophy, department of Korean Language and Literature, Seoul National University攀攀Kim, Dae-Joong*This thesis is a comparative research into the political perspectives of Huang Zong-Xi(黃宗羲, 1610~1695), Ogiu Sorahi(荻生徠, 1666~1728) and Cheung Yak-Yong(丁若鏞, 1762~1836). I focuss on not only what premodern East Asia had shared with in the politics but also what is the commonality and individuality among the approaches of them. As a starting point, I discuss a new approach to public sphere with which they share in politics. Sorahi radically destroyed the continuity between a private and a public sphere. Rather, he emphasized on the superiority of the public sphere. Both Huang and Cheung, in conrast, did not try to see a clear-cut dichotomy between the two parts, yet still remained within the division of the two spheres. However, if we ask a question of for whom the politics and social system contributed, a potential answer is that both Huang and Cheung focuss on the people at the center of their politics, while Sorahi goes beyond the concept of the public, extending his political view into a strategy of ruling. I think that the differences in political points of views among them are fundamentally drawn from those of humanics. They all agree in humanics that a practical side in ethics is more important than a transcendental one. While the humanics of Huang and Cheung attempted to shed light on a human being as a ethical subject, Sorahi's stood fast his belief only in a dependent, non-subjective human, governed by the external principle. Therefore, unlike Huang and Cheung, Sorahi did not try to seek a possibility in that not only human values but also inner desires of human beings are achieved.
