This paper is about the "That Flower" series, aRandom Motion Digital Hangul Typography artwork which was exhibited at Seoul Design Center during the winter of 2006. "That Flower" was inspired by the poem, "That Flower" by a renownedpoet, Go Eun. The digital work, "That Flower" is a typographic visualization of the poem which was de-constructed typographically into the basic components of Hangul, "Chosung", "Choongsung" and "Chongsung". The components were then re-constructed into various petal-figured elements which were randomly re-constructed into typographical flowers. The typographical flowers appear and accumulate, and after a certain period of time, they disappear one by one. The artwork was to convey the rhythm of the poem visually as well as to emphasize the figurative aesthetics of Han-gul. In addition, they were about creating an active audience because they had to re-generate their own meaning of "That Flower". This trial will become a
stepping stone for the artist to further develop other possibilities regarding converging "Hangul" and "Digital Technology" to express the beauty of Hangul.
