Forty eight sites were selected in four local areas of natural stands of Sorbus commixtafor phytoso-ciological study. Vegetation patterns of S. commixtacommunity group were divided into Magnoliasieboldiicommunity, Salix hallaisanensiscommunity and Symplocos prunifoliacommunity, and totallyfour vegetation units seemed to be accompanied. Among three vegetation types at the natural stands ofS. commixta, Magnolia sieboldii community were sub-divided into two types; one was Sambucuswilliamsiivar. coreanagroup characterized by the presence of Meehania uriticifolia, Adenophoraremotiflora, Polystichum tripteron, Aconitum pseudo-laevevar. erectumand Impatiens nli-tangere, theother was Rhododendron brachycarpumgroup characterized by the presence of Lycopodium serratum,Thuja koraiensisand Saussurea conandrifolia. Sambucus williamsii var. coreana group can be sub-divided into two types; one was Cornus walterisubgroup characterized by Synurus deltoides, Aconitumlongecassidatumand Actinidia arguta, the other was Sambucus williamsiivar. coreanatype subgroup.
