In this study, Zhou Dun Yu(周敦이)'s Taoism thoughts were chiefly discussed. Together, the contents on which Zhou Dun Yu's Dao are based, were investigated as follows :

② who is Zhou Dun Yu?
③ constitution of Tong Shu
④ important concepts of each chapter
⑤ metaphysical concept analysis
⑥ conclusion
He insists that a holy man can be attained by learning. This means that an ordinary person can be a holy man through achievement of Dao. If everybody attains complete enlightenment for himself, he must be a holy saint. Zhou Dun Yu proposes freedom from avarice as condition of a holy man. It implies that one deletes greed through daily life. He persists that Cheong(誠) is the root of a holy man. If an ordinary person knows Cheong(誠), that is, Xing(性) or Xing Pin(性品) he is a holy man. Zhou Dun Yu supports Confucius as idea of a holy man. It is evident that he follows in the footsteps of Confucianism tradition through Tong Shu. Zhou Dun Yu's thoughts meet at the Confucius's thoughts through Dao, that is, Xin(心). If one doesn't know Analects of Confucius, he doesn't know Zhou Dun Yu's Tong Shu. What is standard between a holy man and an ordinary man? It is Dao Xin(道心). But the latter is Ren Xin(人心). A saint never commits a fault in any case as he always acts by Xin Xing(心性). An ordinary man is open to errors as acts by seven feelings.
