This study intends to help contribute to better career education & guidance to students in health sciences major wanting to acquire the medical record technician license. For this purpose, the survey was conducted on 1,031 students from two-year and four-year health science colleges located in Pusan and South Gyung-sang province. The collected data, the purpose of their major choice, college satisfaction, job prospect, occupational choice after graduation were analyzed by frequency, T-test, ANOVA, cross-analysis, and regression analysis. The results are as follows:
The major reason why they have chosen health sciences as their major was 'employment prospect'. And the student satisfaction score was 3.20, higher than average. The majority of respondents wanted to get a job on graduating from school. And the most preferred workplace was medical institutions followed by public institutions in that order. The significant factor affecting student satisfaction with their major was the motive for their college major choice. And its subfactors were job prospect, level of student performance and the recommendation from important others.
