The purpose of thesis is to study on romanticism in poetry of Jung Gi-Yeong who is looked upon as a poet of modernism. Also as a poet of imagism, he has a good effect on korean literature until to the present with Baek seok, Kim gi-lim.
This essay constructs a double view of the world through the irony romantic. The irony romantic is the very core of romanticism. The greater part of Jung gi-Yeong's poems manifested the strong aspiration except for early poems. Jung Gi-Yeong lived the time of colonial disgrace and he manifested an identity of colonial intellectuals.
His poetical world has a dream of the endless ideal world that is based on the aspiration. Through the irony of a reverse, at last Jung Gi-Yeong can build endless ideal world.
