The Purpose of this study is to explore the factors influencing on the intent to leave among personal assistants who deliver services to the people with disabilities and to present empirical and political alternatives to promote job retention among personal assistants and thus to promote the increase of independency and quality of life of people with disabilities in the long run.
The sample of the study was 103 personal assistants nationwide collected as a Survey data on Personal Assistance Services of Ministry of Health, Welfare and Family.
As a statistical method, ordered logistic regression analysis was employed to test the factors influencing the intent to leave among personal assistants.
The results showed that the intent to leave among personal assistants became higher when the gender is male, the age is younger, the duration of work is shorter, the gender between customer and PA is different, the less his/her opinion is reflected or accepted by the supervisor at work, more difficulties are experienced from the internal administrative work rather than the difficulties from low wage or work itself.
The result suggests that it is necessary to form an friendly atmosphere to reflect the personal assistants' opinions and to intensify the education on the internal administrative work and at the same time to simplify the paper work by the personal assistants under the consideration that most personal assistants are in their 40s.
