The aim of this article is to examine nationalism as a unified ideology and its direction in the process of inter-korean integration. First of all, I agreed Hans Kohn's position that nationalism as a unified ideology should go forward to political self-determination, on the basis of cultural-self-determination. And I forecasted that nationalism will be very useful ideology because of increase of the mutual needs, even though South and North Korea have been experienced different process of nationalism. Simultaneously, in the view of inter-korean relationship, I referred that South has been largely given position, North vice versa, this non-reprocity relation may undermine national cooperation. In the view of international aspect, South and North Korea have to try to see getting out of the confrontation situation between South and North in the era of cold war. Historically and structurally, we need to take open stance on issues that is inevitable for engagement of international society. I suggested three directions in term of nationalism as a unified ideology. First, we have to stand for open-nationalism, in the purpose to minimize the exclusive trait, to strength internal cohesiveness. Secondly, we require to build up Volknation. Thirdly, we have to devise the balance and harmony between nationalism and internationalism.
