This paper outlines and discusses a strategic and holistic approach to crisis management for the tourism industry. It's purpose aims to identify the impact of disease such as the new influenza A(H1N1) infection. The paper provides a brief summary of the key points and considerations for an influenza pandemic suggested with specific strategies from three steps; pre-crisis, crisis, and recovery. To avoid panic and the impact of epidemics, there are several strategies, such as honesty and openness from governments, effective global health surveillance system, ongoing public education programs with campaigns, investigation of cases, protection manual before crisis, tourism safety program with SOS, national call center with public communication plan during the crisis and recovery steps, marketing plan, service managers' awareness, collaborative promotional programmes, task force team, a network of national and regional tourism management centers. The future research should address the flow and impact of tourists' arrivals at the tourism destination while crisis happens.
