본 연구는 초등학교 아동·청소년들의 상담 내용에서 나타나는 정서행동문제 유형과 학교 상담자의 역할과 기능에 대한 교사들의 요구를 분석하여 초등학교에서의 바람직한 학교 상담의 방향을 제시하고, 실제적인 학교 상담실 운영에 대한 기초 자료를 수집하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 초등학교와 지역사회 정신건강 서비스 전문기관이 연계를 맺어 전문가가 초등학교 상담실에 파견되어 심리학적 서비스를 제공하는 E 초등학교 상담실 운영 개요를 소개하고, 2005년부터 2008년까지의 상담 내용에서 나타난 아동·청소년들의 주요 문제 유형과 4년간 상담실 운영을 통해 교사들이 지각한 학교 상담자의 역할과 기능에 대한 요구를 분석하고자 한다. 연구 결과에 의하면 첫째, 2005년 78명, 2006년 94명, 2007년 104명, 2008년 125명 등으로 해마다 상담 사례가 증가하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 가장 내원 빈도수가 높은 정서행동문제 유형은 또래관계의 어려움으로 나타났다. 그 뒤를 이어 초등학생들은 주의집중문제, 우울, 가족 갈등, 분노 등 다양한 이유로 상담실을 내원하는 것으로 보고되었다. 이외에도 드물기는 하나 말더듬, 유뇨증, 선택적 함구증, 게임중독, 도벽 등도 상담사례로 보고되었다. 셋째, 분석 결과 아동문제의 공존이 시사되는데, 한가지 영역에서 문제를 가지고 있는 아동·청소년들은 다른 문제 영역에서도 어려움을 보이는 경우가 많았다. 넷째, 학교 교사들은 상담뿐만 아니라 아동·청소년에 대한 정보수집 및 제공 활동, 교사 및 부모 자문 등 다양한 영역에서 상담 전문가의 조력이 필요하다고 지각하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 초등학교 학교 상담이 활성화되기 위해서는 요구되는 상담 모형과 전문가의 역할과 관련하여 본 연구의 결과를 논의하였고 학교 상담의 발전 방향에 대해 모색해보고자하였다.The study is to analyze the emotional-behavioral problems in elementary school and the need of teachers about school counselor roles and to suggest the direction to the desirable school counseling and the management of school counseling center. By conducting the research in E elementary school counseling service that was school-linked connections with mental health service I analyzed the emotional-behavioral problems in students and the need of teachers about school counselor roles from 2005 to 2008. The results of the study were as follows. First, The counseling cases in E elementary school were increased every year(78cases in 2005, 94cases in 2006, 104cases in 2007 and 125cases in 2008). Second, research indicated that children and adolescents for counseling had various emotional- behavioral problems. The most prevalent problem was difficulty of peer relationships. And other problems were attentional problem, depression, family relational problem, anger and so on. Third, children with emotional - behavioral problem tended to have comorbid problems. Forth, classroom teachers perceived the necessity of establishing the professional support in school counseling, information gathering and consultation. In conclusion, the counseling model and the professional roles of elementary school psychologist were discussed with reference to developmental suggestions for school counseling.
