This study aimed to examine the degree of bipolar disorder in adolescence and its correlational and predictive relationships with related variables(gender, grade, sleeping hours, father age at birth, birth order, number of siblings, peer relationship, stress, suicidal ideation, social anxiety, delinquency). To do this, 1,145 students at 2 mixed-sex middle schools in G city were asked to complete a questionnaire. One hundred percent of questionnaires were returned and 1,052(92%) out of them were used for data analyses. The data analyses using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and logistic regression analysis revealed the following results: a) Out of total 1,052 adolescents, 614(58.4%) and 438(41.6%) adolescents fell under normal group and risk group respectively. And the mean of bipolar disorder tendency was 6.06(SD = 2.83) for total group, 4.10(SD = 1.61) for normal group, and 8.81(SD = 1.67) for risk group. b) Out of 11 related variables, 7 variables(gender, grade, sleeping hours, stress, suicidal ideation, social anxiety, delinquency) were significantly correlated with bipolar disorder tendency. c) Out of 11 related variables, 3 variables(peer relationship, social anxiety, delinquency) significantly contributed to discriminating between normal and risk group. The results were discussed and several suggestions were presented for future related research.
