따라서 오늘날 생태적으로 매우 막중한 상황에 직면해 있는 영산강의 문제를 ‘갱번’의 공간인식으로 재구성하여 남도문화에 대한 재영토화를 시도해야 한다고 보았다.have been formed, based on the life culture in the Youngsan River. The river have been formed by cultural ups and downs with long history, but now meets the difficulties at the aspect of an ecological environment. The study could present a breakthrough to overcome the difficulties with the anthropogeographical key words to be discussed by this study. The fishery and agricultural lives in the Youngsan River are proud of their long history. The study looks into the overlays of two lives by a fieldwork; the farm song in Hwanggeum-ri, Subuk-myeon, Dangyang-gun and the agricultural life at there, the farm song in Mandeu-ri, Seochang, Gwangju city and the agricultural life at there, the fishery life in Okjung-ri, Donggang-myeon, Naju-gun, the pottery life in Monggang-ri, Mongtan-myeon, Muan-gun, the farm song in Galgok-ri, Sinbook-myeon, Youngam-gun and the agricultural life at there, the fishery life in Sanho-ri, Samho-myeon, Youngam-gun, the mixed life of agriculture and fishing in Chodangsan, Okam-ri, Muan-gun, the fishery life in Nabuldo, Youngam-gun, the fishery life in Gatbawi village, Hadang, Mokpo city, the fishery life in Yongdang village, Youngam-gun, and so on. Moreover, the study affirms the lives connected with the development of Jangsi along the stream of the Youngsan River, and also it became the foundation that the folk music of southern cultural zone was developed. The study presents five key words to be able to understand the culture of the Youngsan River based on fishing and agriculture. The first key word is Gangbeon, which have been used to call sea in the southwestern islands area. On the contrary, people lived in the up and middle stream of the Youngsan River tend to recognize the river to sea. The study considers their recognition, that is, there is no big difference between river and sea expressed by the naming way of Gangbeon, could represent the cultural characteristics in this region. The second one is Maehyangbi, a stone monument. The study supplements data about the recognition of Gangbeon with the point that the stone monuments around the Youngsan River and the southwestern area locate in knotted point between sea and river. The third one is the position of Namhae inlet in Youngam-gun, which has been existed since Gorye Dynasty. Namhae inlet, one of the three temples for the sea god, was located in the border of the southern sea as the temple of Yangyang in Gangwon Province met the eastern sea and the one of Pooncheon in Hwanghae Province met the western sea. According to this fact, it is possible to recognize that the Youngsan River located in the below of Namhae inlet is to sea. The fourth one is the boundary of the high and low tide in the Youngsan River. The study proves it with various data that the tidal area is expanded to the upsteam of the Youngsan River. Finally, the study strengthens the logic of Gangbeon by the traditional administrative district divided by seaways. With these key words, the study considers that the cultural zone of the Youngsan River could be bound by the key word, Gangbeon and also makes a theory of Hong-eo-samhap. This means it is the road of the fermentation in the southern culture that Hongeo starts from Heuksan-do, passes by the Youngsan River, and arrives to Youngsan inlet in Naju city. This also means that the road could be explained by a cultural theory called Hong-eo-samhap. The study considers that the cultural technology, made in the road where sea culture connects with inland culture, is to the technology of fermentation and at the same time, it becomes ‘sigimsae(nominal formation of ‘sakhida(ferment)’) which is the characteristics of the southern folk songs and Pasori. In addition, the study interprets Gangbeon zone not to be divided by sea and river as the three-mixed space of costal islands, the Youngsan River, and the inland having aesthetic conformity. Conclusionally, the study considers that the problem of the Youngsan River faced with ecologically serious situation should be reorganized by Gangbeon space and then the re-territorialization about the southern culture should be needed to try.
