This study is to analyze the political implication of the introduction of Buddhism in Goguryeo, Baekje, and Silla. The existing studies focus on its relationship with royal authority. This study, however, approaches the issue in terms of the evolution of sociopolitical thoughts. In other words, it focuses on the historical period of the 4th and mid-5th century and the specific space of 'East Asia' that were called the epoch of the Five barbarians and the Sixteen Kingdoms in Chinese history. In that period and space, the Confucianism lost its function as governing philosophy and the international order based on Sinocentrism broke down. Thought of Cakravarttin of Buddhism was introduced as an alternative ruling philosophy at that time and space. Thought of Cakravarttin was introduced in China by translations of Mahalokopapatti sutra in 290-307 and Asokavadana in 306. Hence, the thought could be included in Buddhism when it was introduced in Goguryeo in 372 and in Bakje in 384. Changing sociopolitical thoughts in China were introduced in Goguryeo, Bakje, and Silla, who were integrated directly within East Asian international order. The king of three kingdoms could achieve remarkable accomplishments, who could realize political thought of Buddhism and policies of Asoka.
