This paper uses the Russian Longitudinal Monitoring Survey(RLMS) data to analyze the effect of the experience of informal economy activities on the duration of official entrepreneurship. Following the construction of the time-span data of the entrepreneurship from the RLMS, we estimate the hazard function for the duration of the entrepreneurship. We find that entrepreneur’s previous informal economy participation has significantly increased the duration of official entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurs with the previous experience of informal economy activities have lower hazard rate by about 79~86% than those without having such experience.
