Colleges have seldom been research subjects, if any, compared to primary schools. A few feminist researchers have conducted research on them, in which they point out that “returnees(Bok-hak-saeng)” are those who maintain and reproduce military culture back on co-ed campuses. The present study conducted through interviews with vocalist students in the music department reconfirms that co-ed colleges are problematic because of the returnees who “transplant” military culture back to campus from the army. Highlighting the fact that the gender ratio among vocalist students and professors is well-balanced, the researcher propose that there be cultural reflectivity and struggle for gender equity along with legal procedures such as affirmative actions.
