Recently the development of local food menus affects regional and national tourism industry. This study was conducted with the existing literature, and then an empirical analysis by performing a survey aimed at managers who run exemplary restaurants in the Yeongseo and Yeongdong areas in Gangwon-do. Remarkably the development of local food menus is very important to local government and food service industry. It also helps underdeveloped regions have motivation for further development. The development of local food menus has to be renewed by emphasizing regional tradition, historicity, and characteristic and be regarded as cultural elements.
