As the opportunity for public to participate in leisure activities increases consistently with the implementation of 5-day workweek and the increase in the national income, the demand for various leisure or recreation activities on beach or riverside has been increased in addition to land activities. For such purpose, we conducted a survey with those who were participating in leisure and recreation activities in the Haeundae and Gwanganri beaches, Samnak Riverside Park and Hwamyeong Arboretum that were known to be representative locations for water side activities in Busan. The survey was conducted for 15 days from April 2 to 16, 2012 by distributing 300 questionnaires, of which 291 were used for the study. The importance and satisfaction of leisure and recreation activities were investigated respectively for 13 questions to measure water side activities that had been drawn out from the precedent research and the t-test of independent samples was performed. An empirical analysis has been conducted upon the entire samples and also samples categorized into the beach and the riverside areas by an IPA method, which showed that the demands by participants of leisure and recreation activities were different depending on beach or riverside.
