This study attempts to explore the current state of ethnic education for Koreans in Central Asia. Korean language schools and Korean education centers mainly provide ethnic education for Koreans in Central Asia and the former plays a bigger role than the latter in offering ethnic education. Most Korean language schools confront various challenges such as inferior educational conditions and poor financial status. However, the students of Korean language schools and their parents give relatively high marks to the quality of the ethnic education offered by the schools. The students seem to have lower expectation for and less interest in ethnic education than their parents. In a similar vein, parents are more positive about the effects of the ethnic education than their children. Finally, both students and their parents consider insufficient number of Korean educational institutes as a critical problem. They also believe that ethnic education has contributed to uniting the Korean community in Central Asia and stimulating cooperation within the community.
