To investigate the diversity and distribution of beetles captured by pitfall traps and beatings at Keumwonsan recreational forest, the twelve filed studies were carried out from May to September in 2012. The beetles captured in this study were a total of 1,302 individuals belonging to 22 families and 76 species. In the distribution of major species, Carabidae was the highest as a total of 389 belonging to 10 species followed by Cerambycidae as a total of 165 individuals belonging to 8 species, Rutelidae as a total of 89 individuals belonging to 8 species, Curculionidae as a total of 8 individuals belonging to 8 species, Chrysomelidae as a total of 58 individuals belonging to 4 species, and Nitidulidae as a total of 47 individuals belonging to 4 species. Depending on altitude, distribution of species and individuals are different; at 500 m, 73 species and 376 individuals were found. Elevation at 600m, 700m, and 900m were 69 species and 276 individuals, 75 species and 501 individuals, and 66 species and 149 individuals, respectively. This study investigated Platypus calamus in insect vector of oak wilt pathogen. Monthly distribution was the highest in July at elevation 700m as 21 families, 65 species, and 210 individuals. The species diversity index was higher in July as 0.0842. Menhinick index was 1.75, which indicates the species abundance by beetles at Keumwonsan recreational forest. This study might be valuable to predict and manage some diseases related to beetles at Keumwonsan natural recreational forest.
