This study, focused on the analysis of psychopathological characteristics inherent in media technologies. Typical symptom of psychopathological phenomenon in three different temporal strata have been evaluated from the 19th century to today; that is paranoia in 19th century, schizophrenia in 20th century, depression in 21th century. While exploring the temporal strata on the basis of an observation of symptoms, the psychopathological phenomenon of today, represented as emissions disease and depression and destruction of the ego is closely related to the technological characteristics of the media in earlier era.
These theoretical attempts to associate psychopathology with media technology suggest a new perspective to interpret the characteristics of media technology. As a result, it can be possible to interpret from a different perspective the forces of fundamental technology and media in everyday life.
