The purpose of this study is to examine research trends in subject instruction for students with disabilities, and to evaluate them through the What Works Clearinghouse(WWC) Standards ver. 3.0. For this purpose, journal articles were systematically searched via research databases, and a total of 57 studies were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The selected studies were evaluated in terms of based on publication year, subjects, characteristics of participants, research environment, type of experimental design, independent, dependent variables and the WWC standards. The results revealed that single-case study of subject instruction for students with disabilities published from 2002, and subject instruction studies were mostly conducted language of arts and mathematics and 3 participants for intellectual disabilities at special class in elementary school. Also, mostly studies used multiple probe and multiple baseline designs and tried to use various strategies and a number of studies were evaluated such as class participation behavior, academic skills, and behavioral problems. However, there were very few studies related to curriculum contexts directly. In addition, only 13 studies met WWC standards. Most of studies did not meet criteria for the reliability and probe pont in a session under no intervention. Based on these results, the research trends were discussed and the further directions were suggested in subject instruction for students with disabilities.
