The aim of this study was to analyze the latest makeup images and designs from the Paris collection and provide basic data for the analysis of future makeup trends. The scope was limited to Chanel, Christian Dior, Saint Laurent and Alexander McQueen, focusing on the Paris pret-a-porter collection. First, a total of 532 makeup photos from 11 seasons (SS 2013 to SS 2018, 5 years) were collected. Among them, 309 pictures were chosen by 3 makeup experts for final analysis. In terms of study method, theoretical research was performed regarding design factors and eight different makeup images, which were categorized based on literature records and previous studies. The collected makeup images were analyzed in terms of shape, color and texture through empirical research. The results found the following: Makeup images were classified into five different types: natural, retro, modern, kitsch, decadent. The percentage was 33%, 24%, 19%, 14% and 10% each. In modern society where diversity is more emphasized, a ‘natural’ image was preferred the most, accounting for the greatest portion. In avant-garde, artistic kitsch, and modern images as well, more popular and aesthetic expressions were found, which means that fashion collections actually reflect and present current trends.
