The hotel industry in Korea has grown both quantitatively and qualitatively. However, there are many problems in studying the development history of the hotel industry.
The purpose of this study is to develop an indicator for the development of the hotel industry in Korea. This study extracted 27 variables, which are a total of seven factors, through previous studies in Korea. We used the Delphi technique for a group of hotel management majors. As a result, 50 experts participated in the first survey and 30 experts participated in the second survey. Seven variables of 24 factors were obtained from the first expert survey and seven factors of 21 variables were obtained from the second expert survey. The order of importance was determined by the weight of the research indicators developed, and the order of importance could be an essential element in the research of hotel development companies.
In addition, three research projects were significantly verified through the above research results. The derived indicators will be the basic guidelines for research scope, purpose of research, and research methods in the study of hotel development history in Korea.
