The purpose of this study is to find academic and practical implications to provide useful clues to the service providers of the co-op in a competitive environment by examining the effect of relationship benefits (social benefits, confidence benefits, special treatment benefits, and shared value benefits) perceived by the co-op members on switching barriers and long-term relationship orientation. The characteristics of this study are that the relationship benefits, switching barriers, and long-term relationship orientation, which have been mainly studied in relation to general companies, are applied to the consumer co-operatives, where the consumer is the owner, and the benefits of shared value are included in the relationship benefits. First, co-op members perceived social benefits, confidence benefits, special treatment benefits, and shared value benefits, all of which were found to affect switching barriers. Second, it was found that confidence benefits, special treatment benefits, and shared value benefits both directly and indirectly affect long-term relationship orientation through the switching barrier, while social benefits affect long-term relationship orientation only indirectly through switching barriers. Third, switching barriers was found to affect long-term relationship orientation. Finally, through these results, academic and practical implications and future research directions were briefly discussed.
