This paper studies the current Korea Defense Language Institute (KDLI)'s military English programs and how to improve students' military English communication skills. It is very important to improve the Korean military's English communication skills for the successful transfer of wartime operational control from Combined Forces Command and a prerequisite for the success of the ROK-US Combined Operations, Multinational operations, and UN Peacekeeping operations. From the survey results of the KDLI Advanced English Course students, this paper investigates military English learning needs and further requirements during class and analyzes military English skills. This paper suggests that KDLI military English professors need to focus on improving the military operation order class, military briefing skills, and military English textbook updates to improve students' military English capabilities.
