This paper examines how changes in the economic structure of South Korea can affect the democratization system. Korea’s growth system, which has been formed since democratization in 1987, intensified into two divisions at the regional and generational dimension in the 2010s. Since the 2010s, the concentration of economic and political power in the Seoul metropolitan area has deepened to a different level than before. Since the 2010s, the economic status of the young generation has deteriorated relatively, and the phenomenon of polarization and gender conflict within generations has been strengthened. If the dissatisfaction caused by the division of the economic structure is politically mobilized, the democratization system of South Korea formed since 1987 may face a crisis.
