This study was conducted to investigate the mediating effects of the coping strategies of family conflict on the relationship between gender role recognition and family violence using the 16th survey (2021) of the Korean Welfare Panel Study, and then to provide the basic data necessary for establishing policies. The major findings were as follows: First, as a result of a descriptive statistical analysis of the main factors, the gender roles recognition among baby boomers were dominated by patriarchal stereotypes, and when family conflicts occurred, they addressed them by choosing non-violent rather than family communication coping strategies of family conflicts, and family violence was observed to occur to some extent. Second, as a result of a pathway analysis of the structural relationship, the pathway of gender role recognition → family conflict was not significant, while both of the pathway of gender role recognition → coping strategies of family conflict (β=-.44***) and scoping strategies of family conflict → family conflict (β=-.52***) were significant among baby boomers. This means that when family conflicts occurred, the more baby boomers were buried in patriarchal stereotypes, the more they chose non-violent coping strategies of family conflict passively, and the more they were buried in patriarchal stereotypes and selected the non-violent coping strategies of family conflict passively, the more this led to family violence. Third, the coping strategies of family conflict completely mediated the effects of gender role recognition on family violence among baby boomers. These results suggest the need for establishing specialized policies to prevent the formation of a structural relationship between gender role recognition, coping strategies of family conflict and family violence among baby boomers.
