Since the main characteristic of 1920s poetic literature was defined by Im Hwa as 'romanticism', the achievements and limitations of 1920s poetic texts have been discussed within the 'romanticism'. However, when we approach the literature of the 1920s based on the concept of 'romantic irony' as a contradictory movement of 'interaction of creation and destruction' rather than romanticism with its inherent limitations of the 'absolute self', we’ll be able to approach the inner world of poetry (language) based on it from the perspective of 'dialogue' rather than monologue. And for this purpose, this article introduced the concept of 'Dialogical self'. The 'Dialogical self theory’, which emphasizes that the self 'reconstructs' itself in an unconventional way through a dialogical process in which the 'internal' and 'external' positions of the self are constantly exchanged, is useful for understanding the subjects of 1920s poetry and their linguistic and conscious situations. The dialogic nature of modern Korean poetry can also be discussed from the perspective of transforming the traditional 'dialogic orientation' of the traditional sijo into the dialogic nature of a modern 'I-You' relationship. This claim will be demonstrated by discussing the modalities of the dialogical self and the characteristics of dialogic utterance in the works of Chu Yo-han, Kim Eok, Hwang Seok-woo, and the representative poets of the 1920s, Lee Sang-hwa, Kim Sowol, and Han Yong-woon. This part will be supplemented by subsequent studies.
