Everything Everywhere All at Once(2022) assumes variation of a person’s life might exist in a multiverse. Alternate versions of characters in each multiverse, called alpha-bus, emphasize the importance of the will of an alternate self(alt-self or alpha-self) to live a joyful life while affirming life during multiverse-spanning stories. Since the alpha-verse is derived from the real world, it is composed of the premise of the real world, and the alt-self of each alpha-verse also exists as one of the fragmented multiple selves of the real world. Each alt-self, who seeks to escape in order to overcome the fundamental limitations of the real world and meets a lot of problems in alpha-verse, gets to strongly build his or her own Asian American subjectivity during the multiverse travels. Traveling to multiverse enables Asian Americans to rename his or her identity and to find his or her true self in America. Through the space-time of the multiverse, ontological thinking about human beings and metaverse can be explored more deeply, too.
