The purpose of this study is to explore major variables that affect high school students' electoral participation in order to help develop educational and policy measures using data from the 8th year of the Korea Education Longitudinal Study(KELS) 2013. The results are as follows: first, the top 25 importance indices included individual variables such as individual affective characteristic, class and school life, leisure and after-school time use, career maturity and educational aspiration, and school type. Family-related variables and teacher characteristics, however, are not included, indicating that factors for studies and career and individual attitudes play a more important role in voting participation. Second, Second, among the predictors that affect high school students' voting participation, educational aspirations were found to be the highest importance index, followed by the type of school, class attitude, and class understanding. In other words, it can be seen that voting participation can be predicted not only by personal factors related to academics and career, but also by differences by school type. Third, seven variables related to classes such as class attitude, class understanding, class concentration and three variables related to computer and smart media use were included in the top 25 of the importance indices that affects high school students' participation in voting. Based on the results, implications were presented for developing educational programs that can be used for education of future voters on election and political participation and preparing measures to increase the effectiveness of educational policies.
