새로운 무선 통신기술이 출현되고 발전됨에 따라 보다 효율적 스펙트럼 이용을 위한 개선된 스펙트럼 관리가 요구된다. 본 논문은 광선추적 기술을 기반으로 한 도심환경 전파채널 특성의 예측 기법을 기술하였다. 실제 도심환경에서 예측산란효과에 대한 PO(Physical Optics) 근사법과 빠른 광선추적 알고리즘의 도입을 통해 보다 정확한 채널 특성이 예측됨을 확인하였다. 또한 제안된 채널 예측기술은 미래 이동통신 서비스를 위한 간섭 신호 경감을 통한 MIMO-SDMA 시스템의 스펙트럼 공유 분석에 적용하였다.
첫째로 전파경로 손실 예측정확도 향상을 위해 도심 빌딩협곡 환경을 고려한 3 - 5 GHz대역에서의 빌딩 분포인자를 도입한 개선된 4-ray 모델을 제안하였다. 분포 정보(BWI)는 빌딩 분포 정보 측면에서 GIS 데이터 베이스로부터 계산될 수 있다. 실제 고층아파트 단지에서 수행된 측정 데이터는 경로손실 예측이 개선됨을 확인하였다.
둘째로 불규칙한 빌딩 벽면을 고려하여 경로 손실 예측을 향상시키기 위한 개선된 광선추적 기법이 제안되었다. PO 근사법 기반의 유효 반사가 모델링 되었으며 기존 광선추적 기법의 반사에 적용되었다. 제안된 방법을 검증하기 위하여 도심의 상업지구 빌딩 환경에서 경로손실 측정이 수행되었으며, 측정 데이터와 광선추적 예측결과는 LOS와 NLOS 영역에서 비교 분석되었다. 일반적 예측기법은 실제 환경보다 무작위 거친 벽면모델 예측과 같은 이상적 통계적 환경에 적용이 가능한 반면 제안된 예측 기법은 실제 도심환경의 빌딩벽면 구조의 산란효과를 고려하기 위한 효율적 방안을 제공할 수 있다.
셋째로 도심협곡의 릴레이 네트워크 환경의 MIMO 채널용량을 정의하기 위한 용량결과가 분석되었다. 안테나 수와 간격을 변화시키면서 3.7 GHz대 채널 매트릭스 측정이 수행되었다. 본 결과는 안테나 간격이 4λ 이상 확보되면 가시영역 환경에서 MIMO 채널용량은 신호대 잡음비가 안테나 간격 보다 더 크게 영향을 받음을 보여준다. 그리고 릴레이 네트워크 시나리오는 안테나 이격에 제약이 없고 높은 신호 대 잡음 비를 확보할 수 있기 때문에 MIMO 기지국은 충분한 데이터 전송률을 제공할 수 있음을 확인하였다.
마지막으로 본 논문은 3.4 - 4.2 GHz와 4.5 - 4.8 GHz대역의 차세대이동통신시스템과 고정위성업무 간의 주파수 공유를 위한 다중이용자 MIMO-SDMA의 null-steering 기반의 효율적이고 강인한 간섭 완화 기법을 제안하였다. MIMO-SDMA의 프리코딩 매트릭스는 피간섭원 고정위성 지구국 방향으로 공간 스펙트럼 형성을 제공한다. 실제 환경의 주파수 공유 가능성과 간섭완화 효과를 분석하기 위하여 제안된 간섭 완화 알고리즘은 광선추적 기법에 적용되었다. 모의실험 결과를 통해 제안된 간섭 완화기법은 차세대이동통신 기지국의 시스템 성능 열화는 최소화 하면서 고정위성 지구국 사이의 거리 이격을 줄이는데 매우 효과적임을 확인하였다.
간섭현상을 줄이고 스펙트럼 이용효율을 증대시키기 위해 채널특성의 예측은 매우 중요하다. 실제 전파환경을 고려한 광선추적과 간섭완화 기법 기반의 간섭분석은 차세대이동통신 시스템을 위한 주파수 공유분석에 적용될 수 있음을 확인하였다.
