This thesis aims to recognize the necessity of art and culture education based on changes and flows in society called 'Century of Culture', and re-examine the implication and value of school art and culture education from the perspective of integrated art and culture education. The art and cultureeducation does not simply aim to acquire a specific art education, but to pursue aesthetic and emotional development along with knowledge education. Also, art and culture education features a wide range of fields including its essential functions and complex education
The complex art and culture education was regarded as a means for promoting creativity and emotion that is requested nowadays. In this regard, this thesis conducted analysis on the programs and current status of school art and culture education based on complex art and culture education, and examined school cultural education from various aspects including content, goal, participation subject, evaluation, and infrastructure construction.
In conclusion, in regards to this, first, school art and culture education should be composed of educational programs that can raise aesthetic sensibility about surrounding environment and oneself through direct experiences in life. Second, it is necessary to make relationship-forming education for meaningful learning to take place for both students and instructors. Third, the assessment for art and culture education must be done considering various characteristics and domains including the domain of experience, understanding, and communication. Fourth, for promotion of school art and culture education, it is necessary to arrange for an environment that enables instructors, students, and other members to seek various educational programs by utilizing related education of art galleries and museums. Also, it is necessary to allow participation subjects of art and culture education to be expanded to parents, and community, but not be limited to students and instructors, in order to make it a 'participatory art and culture education'.
