Abstract 67

초록보기

Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) is a composer who completed Sonatas based on the traditional form of Classicism and established the foundation of Romantic music in the 19th century by creative compositional techniques. Free expressions of his inner world have greatly influenced Romantic composers, and his musical colors appeared in the overall parts of his music.

Of them, 32 Piano Sonatas were composed over his entire life, through which the change of his musical inclination can be known. Thus, this study analyzed his late Piano Sonatas which expressed Romantic elements in various ways and grasped the flow of his music in the history of music developing from Classicism to Romanticism.

Accordingly, this study collected the scores, notes and other literature about Beethoven's complete Piano Sonatas and grasped the characteristics of his music by period and characteristics of his Sonatas, and then analyzed the styles, melodies, chords, rhythms and forms of his late Sonatas and Piece Op.110, and looked into the characteristics of the musical diction of the late Sonatas in this piece.

As a result, this study analyzed the late Sonatas' general features: such as the use of the form of variation, contrapuntal composition, continuity between movements, changes in harmony and rhythm, new sound effects, expansion of the range and changes in forms

Therefore, Beethoven Piano Sonata Op. 110 is a piece in which the characteristics of a new form, which had not been found in the traditional sonata form, were expressed well and the foundation of Romantic music by breaking from strict beauty of the form and expressing musical contents and personal emotions properly by free and creative techniques. In addition, it was found that this tendency provided a chance for a turning point to Romanticism.
