ABSTRACT 369
Background : During the Yuan(元) Dynasty, Wang Gyu(王珪), a oriental doctor, was very famous for a medicine called Gondamwon(滾痰圓, a medicine in the form of a pill, abbreviation GDW). His theory of Dam(痰, internal sputum) disease was so unrivaled that it was introduced separately in Donguibogam(『東醫寶鑑』). Nevertheless, his only existing book, 『TaeJeong YangSaengJu theory』 has not been introduced in Korea, and research on his life has been insufficient. Therefore, after restoring the original text of 『TaeJeong YangSaengJu theory』, I translated into Korean and researched
Materials and methods : I obtained PDF file of the original book published at the 6th year of Myeong dynasty's Jeongdeok period in the china. and I compared that with the new book printed with a simplified version of Chinese characters that was published in 2017 by Shim Soo-nong(沈澍农) and Lee San-ryeo(李珊丽),
Referring to the simplified Chinese characters of recent book, I restored the original Chinese characters in the original photographic edition book of the PDF file. The translation was very difficult for me even though referring the side-dots of the latest book. because there's no side-dot in the original book. In some parts that's hard to interpret, I tried to translate it by shifting the side-dots. And classical terms were studied by referring to classical terminology dictionaries and various databases.
Results and Conclusions :
1. Wanggyu(王珪) was originally a person of the Song(宋)'s generation, and His ancestor was a southerner who fled to 熟常 city due to the invasion of 金 dynasty. Decades later, 南宋 was destroyed by 元, when he was at the age of 13. And When he was 24 years old, he was placed in the government service of Won(元) dynasty. But he resigned voluntarily and returned home at the age of 38 due to discrimination and bad things. After that, he practiced self-discipline and curing, and after studying medicine, he lived over 90 years of age looking at patients as a doctor.
2. Wang's prescription, GDW(滾痰圓) began to use when Wang succeeded in his treatment. In the past, it had been no prescription in the process of treating his chronic illness, 痰疾(diseases related to internal sputum), that is inherited from his parents. So Wang made a unique prescription based on four oriental herbal medicines, and it was widely used at that time and in later generations. Even in the present day, his prescriptions and his theory are worth using for various purposes, and can be used for the treatment and research of self-help for curing the diseases such as Atopic Dermatology, and Rheumatism.
3. Analyzing the book 『Taejeong YangSaengJu theory』, it can be classified into three categories: 'YangSaeng theory', 'Medical theory' and 'a collection of experience prescriptions'
㉠ In his 'YangSaeng(養生) theory', he consistently argues that 'recovery of one mind' is very important in 'curing' and refers to many diverse curing methods in the order of individual life, from the time of marriage to pregnancy to the time of birth to the old age.
㉡ In his Medical Theory, he summarized the contents of oriental medical bible 『素問』 and wrote down the core of the principles that the sick and the doctors should have, and the diseases that caused by natural rhyme and fate and a wide variety of traditional medical theories like the methods of diagnosing by feeling the pulse how to judge life and death. And he introduced many prescriptions that he tried and made good effects, and the prescriptions we could use for each period of time until we got married, had children, was born, and died.
㉢ In his unique collection of prescriptions for experience, he describes the medicines he founded, such as GDW(滾痰圓), Hwaldam-tang(豁痰湯), Jangdok(杖毒:stick poison) medicine for helping blood circulation, and Yongneu-go(龍腦膏 : eating ointment made by Dryobalanops aromatica Gaertner).
In addition, He introduces 22 different types of prescriptions (i.e. prescriptions that have been used and gained effectiveness among previous prescriptions). Through this book, we can see Wang Gyu's firm will for curing, outstanding insight into existing medical theories, and his honest aspect as an empirical doctor.*표시는 필수 입력사항입니다.
