본 연구는 교사 리더십의 실행 가능성을 탐색하기 위해서 교사 리더십을 조성하는 학교 맥락의 특성에 관한 교사들의 인식을 배경 변인별로 분석했다. 이를 위해서 서울과 경기지역에 근무하는 430명의 중등교사를 대상으로 설문조사를 실시했다. 연구 도구로는 Katzenmeyer와 Moller(2001)가 개발한 "교사 리더십의 조성 맥락에 관한 학교 실태 조사 질문지(TLSS)"를 사용했다. 연구결과 교사의 직위, 학교규모, 학교급, 학교소재지, 학교설립 유형 등 배경 변인에 따라서는 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 나타났으나, 교사의 성별과 교육경력 등 배경 변인에 따라서는 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 본 연구를 통하여 교사 리더십을 실행하기에 가장 좋은 학교 맥락은 중소도시에 소재하는 중간 규모의 공립학교임을 알 수 있었다.
