Proverbs are brief statements handed down from ancient times with ironic, critical, and educational meaning. Proverb is both the historical heritage and one of the best means of expression reflecting history, culture, psychological characteristics and habits of nations. Proverb cultures of Korea and China are both developed. From the aspect of geographical location, Korea and China are close neighbors, who are both from Cultural Circle of Chinese Characters using Chinese Characters with similar spiritual philosophy in history, such as Confucianism and Buddhism culture. They have close economic and cultural exchanges in various fields since ancient times. In recent years, exchanges between the two countries are increasing, especially in the academic aspect. But as the exchange of students between the two countries is increasing, difficulties in Proverb comprehension is an undisputed fact. As a representative of common saying, Proverb is not a simple language but also includes cultural, spiritual, psychological characteristics, philosophy, lifestyle and other aspects of counties and nations. In order to further enhance the exchanges and cooperation in various fields between Korea and China, it is necessary to conduct a comparative study on Proverb containing history and culture currently.
