이 연구의 목적은 체육 및 스포츠에서 다루어져 온 운동하는 몸의 실재를 체육학적 관점에서 시대적으로 어떻게 변모하여 왔는지를 알아보는데 있다. 이를 위하여 과거의 식민체육, 해방이후 1980년대의 체육, 그리고 생태적 관점에서의 운동하는 몸의 실재를 나누어 논하고자 한다. 지금까지 체육에서의 운동하는 몸의 주요관심사는 쉴링(C. Shilling)(1993)의 주장에서처럼 물질적, 물리적, 생물적 실체로 부각된 반면에 사회적 관계 속에서의 인간주의적 관점에서는 크게 부각이 되지 않았던 것이 사실이다. 이를 위하여 운동하는 몸의 실재를 과학적 차원으로 생리학적 측면에서의 논의와 지금까지 체육의 목적과 역사에 따른 몸의 논의를 바탕으로 이에 대한 대안으로서의 생태학적 몸의 논의를 하고자 한다. 이에 따른 논의의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 과거의 체육과 몸은 주로 생리학적 관점에서 다루어져 왔고, 특히 일본에 의해서 주도된 식민지체육으로 순종하는 식민지 인간을 육성하려는 체육 정책에 의하여 체조(병식체조, 황국식민화 체조, 보건체조)를 중심으로 한 식민지 체육의 목적은 충량한 신민의 육성과 순종하는 신체의 형성에 있었다. 둘째, 해방이후 1980년대까지 운동하는 몸의 실제는 운동과학, 스포츠과학의 발달로 보다 본격적으로 운동수행의 측면에서 대상화되고 객관화된 몸으로서 그 의미를 갖는 것을 알 수 있다. 마지막으로 현대의 운동하는 몸의 실재는 체육이 인간교육의 전형으로 인식되면서 스포츠체험과 몸의 주체적 참여라는 질적 접근의 연구가 주를 이루었다. 하지만 여전히 우리의 운동하는 몸의 실재는 몸과 정신, 자연과 문화, 생물과 사회에 대한 이분법적 사고가 지배하고 있다. 이에 대한 대안으로 자연과 몸이, 사회와 몸이 하나가 되는 생태학적 몸의 가능성과 실천은 체육학적 관점에서 몸을 바라볼 수 있는 주요한 대안으로 생각된다.

The purpose of this study is to explore of the reality of sporting body. So far, the major concern of sporting body was not significantly as shown in claims of Shilling, biological entity in social relations, on the other hand, outlined the human self centered perspective. For this purpose, it is discussed about the reality of sporting body at the level of the body's real-life exercise in scientific discussion of the physiological aspects. This is the result of the discussion is based on the following. First of all, in the past, in terms of sporting body have been primarily featured physiological. Secondly, since the 1980s the liberation movement of the body to the actual development of the exercise science. Sports science target in terms of performing in earnest, than being objectified as a body having its meaning. Finally, the modern movement of the sporting body, this was recognized as the epitome of human education sports experience and study of the qualitative approach called active participation of the week starts. In the future, ecological body will be an alternative to being one body with nature, social and ecological potential of the body.
