This Study is aimed at an analysis of Kuwait’s national identity. Kuwait became an independent state in 1961 and established a constitution in 1962.

We needs understanding of national identity to know the state well. Constitution of every state connotes its national identity in economic social structure and in each constitutional provision. Kuwait is a country with separation of powers, and is comparatively a democratic country of GCC countries, but is a constitutional monarchy that power is largely concentrated in the hands of Amir. “The religion of the State is Islam, and the Islamic Sharia shall be a main source of legislation.”(Article 2). Therefore, Islamic Sharia is very important factor in the formation of national identity.

In the end, Kuwait’s national identity is a constitutional monarchy that Islamic sharia is a main source of legislation and that power is comparatively separated.
