이 연구에서는 진지한 여가 참여 수준과 성별 그리고 여가스포츠 유형에 따른 진지한 여가의 부정적 영역인 비용의 차이를 규명하였다. 여가스포츠에 참여하는 18세 이상의 382명을 대상으로 목적표집을 활용하여 수집된 데이터를 활용하였다. 연구목적을 달성하기 위하여 빈도분석, 기술통계분석, K-평균 군집분석, 탐색적 및 확인적 요인분석, 신뢰도분석, t-검정, 일원배치분산분석 및 이원배치분산분석을 실행하였다. 분석결과 첫째, 진지한 여가 수준이 높을수록 진지한 여가 비용도 높게 발생하였다. 둘째, 여성 참여자보다 남성 참여자들의 진지한 여가 비용이 높게 발생하였다. 셋째, 단체종목과 대인종목의 참여자가 개인종목 참여자 보다 진지한 여가 비용이 높게 발생하였다. 마지막으로 성별과 여가스포츠 유형의 따른 상호작용에 따른 진지한 여가 비용의 순위를 분석한 결과 단체종목에 참여하는 남성 집단의 진지한 여가 비용이 가장 높게 나타났으며 개인종목에 참여하는 여성 집단의 진지한 여가 비용이 가장 낮게 발생하였다. 본 연구는 진지한 여가의 부정적 영역인 비용에 관한 학문적 관심을 유도하기 위한 연구로서 여가 학자들에게 새로운 학문적 영역을 제시하고 있다.

The purpose of this study was to examine the differences in serious leisure cost based on the degree of participation in serious leisure activities, gender, types of leisure sports, and the interaction between gender and types of leisure sports. A total of 382 leisure sports participants over 18 year-old collected using the purposive sampling method were employed. To achieve the goals of the study, various statistics methods such as frequence analysis, descriptive analysis, K-means cluster analysis, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, reliability analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and two-way ANOVA were utilized. As the results, first, participants who had higher level of serious leisure felt higher serious leisure cost. Second, male participants had more serious leisure cost than females. Third, participants in personal and group leisure sports had higher serious leisure cost than participants in individual leisure sports. Finally, serious leisure cost of males participating in group leisure sports was highest and females’ participating in individual leisure sports was lowest. The current study provides leisure scholars with the new research area indicating the negative outcomes of serious leisure. Leisure researchers have to pay more attention to serious leisure cost.
