본 연구는 부모의 정서지능을 향상시키기 위해 정서지능 중심의 모래상자놀이 부모교육 프로그램을 개발하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이러한 목적을 위해, 첫째, D시에 소재한 어린이집 및 유치원 유아의 부모 255명을 대상으로 정서지능 중심의 모래상자놀이 부모교육 프로그램에 대한 요구 조사를 수행하였다. 둘째, 문헌고찰과 부모의 요구 조사 결과를 바탕으로 총 10회기 프로그램을 구성하였다. 본 연구는 유아의 문제행동을 감소시키기 위한 방안으로써 지금까지 미비하였던 부모의 정서지능 향상에 초점을 둔 부모교육 프로그램을 개발하였다는 점과 부모의 정서지능 향상을 위해 모래상자놀이의 치료적 요인을 적용시켜, 내용전달을 위한 부모교육 프로그램이 아니라 정서를 직접적으로 느끼고 부모 스스로가 통찰하여 일상생활에 적용시킬 수 있는 체험 위주의 부모교육 프로그램을 개발하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

The purpose of this study was to develop a sand-tray play parent education program based on emotional intelligence with the objective of improving parents' emotional intelligence. For this purpose, First, research was conducted in 255 parents of children at nurseries and kindergartens in D City to identify their needs with the aim of developing a sandtray play parent education program based on emotional intelligence. Second, on the basis of the results of literature review and the research on parents' needs, a 10-session program was developed. This study is significant in that it developed a parent education program, focusing on improvement in parents' emotional intelligence, which was relatively less likely to attract attention, as a means of reducing young children's problem behavior; it developed an experience-based parent education program by which parents could personally experience, understand, and apply emotions to daily life rather than a parent education program for delivering contents; and it confirmed usability of sandtray play in improving parents' emotional intelligence.
